The composer who claimed that doesn't know how music is born. He considered that this miracle, and ability to write music called gift from above.
Georgy Vasilyevich all life felt need to write down the thoughts. Thus its diaries are filled with short notes. Sviridov always expressed thoughts and feelings capaciously and laconically, up to one offer or a short aphorism. By the same principle he wrote also music.
Vast forms and "music with supplies" were to Georgy Vasilyevich not to liking. And if we look at his creativity, we will be convinced that the majority of compositions consist of simple forms. Sviridov explained it to that the Russian art (and music, including) has to be simple as considered it Christian. According to the composer, MUSIC HAS TO STRIVE FOR CHRIST'S SIMPLICITY, And NO DUALITY is CAPABLE to DECORATE CREATIVITY.

Sviridov's music long remained is little-known in the West, but in Russia his works had grandiose success in critics and listeners for their lyrical melodies, scale, masterful instrumentation, simple, but thin in a form, and the pronounced, equipped with world experience national character of the statement. Sviridov continued and developed experience of the Russian classics, first of all Modest Mussorgsky, enriching it with achievements of the XX century.
It used traditions of the ancient edging, ceremonial popevka, znamenny chant, and at the same time – the modern city mass song. Sviridov's creativity combined novelty, identity of musical language, elegance, refined simplicity, deep spirituality and expressiveness.
